My Gold Award project, inspired by anthropology and oral history projects, aims to address the inequalities women face – and particularly women from immigrant families– when it comes to opportunities and obstacles to success in the United States, specifically in Westchester County, where I live.
My project will address this issue by interviewing and recording the oral histories of immigrant and first-generation women leaders in business, education, and politics in Westchester County. I plan to then develop graphic and literary narratives of their lives.
To start, I plan to identify 3 women for this project, and hope to continue adding more inspiring women in the future!
